BRITISH TELECOM - Company Overview
BT COM Datamart

BT.com Datamart project is a data warehouse/ datamart type solution aimed at meeting the reporting needs of the Electronic Channels reporting team analyzing the behavior of the customers logging on to the BT.com website and BT systems.

BT.com generates customer interaction data through event logs, web logs and persisted database records. This data needs to be analysed to understand customer behaviour and generate reports required by the business. These reports need to be available each day for analysis and creation of new reports should not require extensive development and should be under the control of end users. In addition to BT.com feeds, customer data may be available on other BT systems. It should be possible to map BT.com customers with these external data feeds.

To satisfy these business requirements, a reliable feed from BT.com logs and data needs to be established to the BIP ETL Platform and the contents of these feeds need to be specified to the repository for effective transformation and loading.

SKY DIGITAL - Company Overview

Case Study - Nasim Consulting delivers BEA platform solution to major High Street financial services group.

The client is a major High Street financial services group engaged primarily in the banking and investment banking businesses, and operating in over 50 countries worldwide. It is one of the leading providers of coordinated global services to multinational corporations and financial institutions in the world's main financial centres.

The bank embarked on a large strategic initiative to deliver the first "Purpose Built" business-to-business (B2B) Internet banking facility in Europe. Internet banking is seen in Europe as the key to survival and profitability of the larger European banks. It is therefore seen as a "must have" rather than a "nice to have" if the bank is to grow its market share and maintain its competitive edge. This project is strategically crucial to the ongoing positioning of the bank in the marketplace.
Their goal was to build an enterprise portal that would allow their corporate banking customers to securely access Internet-enabled banking applications, information, and data customized to their business needs. Their goal was targeted at the following:

  • Reduce the amount of money spent each year maintaining corporate banking software.
  • Bring the legacy corporate banking software into the Internet age by developing replacement corporate banking software in Java on the server-side and HTML on the client side.
  • Ensure the solution was secure.

The project was a major undertaking for the bank and will span three to five years. The first step in addressing the problem was to implement an entirely new, secure Internet savvy HTML/JavaScript Graphical User Interface (GUI) on top of their existing legacy financial system. This framework is the foundation for the complete replacement of the existing legacy application at some future date. Project I - Nasim consultants helped design, implement and test the first generation of the project, which involved EJB client/server design, integration with legacy IBM mainframe systems, performance analysis and tuning, and testing. The client side of the new application was HTML and JavaScript using Secure Socket Layers (SSL), and a sophisticated username/password, plus PIN. In addition, a swipe card system was designed for additional security.

The goals of the client have been met by reduced expenditures on maintaining corporate banking software; the legacy software has been web-enabled by developing replacement corporate banking software in Java on the server side and HTML on the client side, all in a secure Internet environment.
